Donna S. Barfield received her B.A from Mercer University in 1982, and her J.D. from Mercer University School of Law in 1984. She was admitted to the Florida Bar in January 1985 and began her legal career with Britton, Cassell, Shantz and Shotzman, a large Miami firm, focusing on civil litigation, creditors’ rights in bankruptcy proceedings and in diverse and complex real estate transactions. Ms. Barfield subsequently joined the firm of Robert Reynolds, P.A. and honed her skills as a trial lawyer. Ryan R. McCain is a partner/shareholder at Barfield, McCain P.A. Mr. McCain is certified by The Florida Bar as a Board Certified Real Estate Lawyer. Board certification is The Florida Bar’s highest level of evaluation of the competency and experience of attorneys and identifies Mr. McCain’s special knowledge, skills and proficiency in the area of Real Estate, as well his reputation for professionalism and ethics.

Mr. McCain is a member of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar. He has been selected by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star among attorneys under the age of forty. Mr. McCain has been zealously representing owners, landlords, asset managers and property management companies since 2006. He proudly serves as Legal Counsel for the South East Florida Apartment Association (SEFAA) and as a Delegate for the Florida Apartment Association (FAA). SEFAA has awarded Mr. McCain with both the President’s Award and Associate Volunteer of the Year Award with FAA. He has been published in FAA’s Multifamily Florida quarterly publication and frequently teaches Landlord-Tenant legal seminars, Fair Housing legal seminars and Certified Apartment Management (CAM) seminars to numerous property management companies and property managers throughout the State of Florida. Mr. McCain has experience handling a wide variety of real estate litigation and transactional matters, including complex residential and commercial landlord-tenant law, real estate sale and purchase matters, contractual disputes, Fair Housing law, real estate title issues, ejectment actions, appellate work and code enforcement defenses. He is admitted to practice in all Florida State Courts, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. Mr. McCain obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Stetson University College of Law in 2006 graduating cum laude in the top 20% of his class. While at Stetson University College of Law, Mr. McCain was honored to be a senior associate for the Stetson Law Review, served as a Federal Judicial Intern to the Honorable Magistrate Judge Elizabeth Jenkins in the Middle District of Florida, and was a member of the Phi Delta Phi Honors Fraternity. He also received the Book Award in Research & Writing II, the William F. Blews Pro Bono Service Award and the Collegiate All-American Scholar Award. Prior to attending law school, Mr. McCain graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Finance and Minors in Business Law and E-Business Technology from Stetson University. Mr. McCain is a fourth-generation Floridian, avid golfer and enjoys spending time with his wife, Sarah, and daughter, Layla. Darren_Ayoub

Darren J. Ayoub, Esquire is an associate at Barfield, McCain P.A. who joined the firm in 2013, after merging his own private practice with Barfield, McCain P.A.

Darren received his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies from Florida State University in 2002. He started his career in the legal profession in 2005, as an intern for Gunster, Yoakley & Stewart, P.A., in West Palm Beach. He worked for Gunster, in the firm’s litigation department, for over two years, before beginning law school at Nova Southeastern University. As a law student, Darren earned a place in Nova’s prestigious Moot Court Honor Society, where he served as a competitor and brief writer in the Pace University National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition in New York. During his last year of law school, Darren accepted a clinical position with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in Tallahassee, where he assisted in administrative actions and policy making sessions.

Darren became a member of the Florida Bar in 2010 and since that time has appeared in several hundred cases, including county court, circuit court and municipal hearings. He has written published articles and teaches seminars in the areas of Florida Landlord-Tenant law and Fair Housing. Darren is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida and serves on the Legislative Affairs Committee for the South East Florida Apartment Association.

Jorge Torres-Puig, Esq.

Jorge E. Torres-Puig is an associate at Barfield, McCain P.A. who joined the firm in 2021. Prior to joining Barfield, McCain P.A. Jorge worked for large statewide law firms dealing with both complex and general civil litigation matters in the areas of bad faith, claims administration defense, complex personal injury, coverage, and condominium and homeowners’ association law.

Jorge received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Economics from the University of Florida. While always a Gator at heart, Jorge then went on to obtain his J.D. from Florida State University College of Law, where he graduated cum laude with a concentration in business law.

Jorge has always enjoyed giving back to the community and was recognized by Florida State University College of Law with the Distinguished Pro Bono Service Award for his pro bono work as law student. Jorge also received an award from the City, County and Local Government Law section of the Florida Bar for his work over the years in all levels of both state and local government.

Jorge is dedicated to protecting his client’s interests while creating solutions to their problems in an efficient and detail-oriented manner. Jorge also strives to establish personal relationships with each client in order to better deliver high quality legal counsel to meet their goals and needs.
